Get Cisco AnyConnect VPN for Linux

Tags fmi2017

Introduction

Miami students, faculty, and staff can use this application to access internal Miami resources securely from off-campus or to connect to protected IT systems, such as Native Banner.

Please note: While IT Services provides a linux VPN client, it is supported as-is. If VPN is critical to your function with a university system, we recommend using a computer with a fully-supported Windows or Macintosh operating system.

Details

  1. Click the green Download and Install button to download and install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client.
  2. Launch the AnyConnect client.
  3. Connect to one of the following in the connection field:
    • muvpn.miamioh.edu: for general use
    • adminvpn.miamioh.edu: for connecting to restricted systems (requires special authorization)
Note: For adminvpn access, you need to change the Group from DiffVPN to LDAP. If you do not, you will be unable to access Banner. After doing this once, it should save the LDAP setting for future logins.
  4. Sign in with your Miami UniqueID and MUnet password.
