Install Kurzweil on Windows

Kurzweil 3000 is an assistive technology, text to speech, learning tool that supports the concept of Universal Design for Learning with a suite of powerful reading, writing, test-taking, and study skill tools that makes curriculum accessible to all students.

Miami's licensing agreement allows Kurzweil 3000 to be installed for free on both personal and university-owned computers. Versions are available for both Macintosh and Windows computers


  1. Click the Download and Install button to begin the download.
  2. Enter your Miami credentials when prompted, to begin the download. The installer will be saved to your Downloads folder. Do not power off, put to sleep or disconnect from the network until the download completes.
  3. Click the file that was downloaded, displayed at the bottom of your browser window, to run the installer.
  4. Files will first be extracted, and then the installer will automatically run. You may see several command windows open and close by the installer.
  5. Click Start, then type Kurzweil to locate the application.

You will be prompted to login to Kurzweil. To activate and use the software you must email to request an account.
