Configure browser to accept third-party cookies

Issue/Question

  • I want to enable my browser to accept third-party cookies

Environment

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer
  • Safari
  • macOS
  • Windows
  • University-owned Computer
  • Personally-owned Computer

Rationale

  • Cookies save browsing information for the sites you visit. When cookies are enabled, a site can keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and give you relevant content

Resolution

Chrome

  1. In Chrome, click the More icon (three vertical dots in the upper right corner)
  2. Select Settings from the menu
  3. Scroll down and click the Advanced link
  4. Under Privacy and Security, select Content settings
  5. Select Cookies
  6. Toggle on the Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended) option
  7. Toggle off the Block third-party cookies option
  8. Check the Blocked list for duosecurity.com
    • ​​If listed, click the three vertical dots next to the entry and select Remove from the menu
  9. Close and restart your browser

 

Firefox

  1. In Firefox, select the menu icon (three horizontal lines in the upper right corner)
  2. Select Preferences from the menu
  3. Click the Privacy & Security panel
  4. Scroll to the Cookies and Site Data section and select the option, Accept cookies and site data
  5. Click the Exceptions button and check the list for duosecurity.com
    • If listed, select the entry, click the Remove Website button, and then click the Save Changes button
  6. Close the about:preferences#privacy page to save all changes
  7. Close and restart your browser

 

Internet Explorer 

In IE 10 or earlier

  1. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools (gear) button and select Internet options
  2. Click the Privacy tab and select Advanced
  3. Under Settings, move the Internet zone slider to the bottom to allow all cookies
  4. Click OK
  5. Click OK again and restart your browser

 

In IE 11

  1. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools (gear) button and select Internet options
  2. Click the Privacy tab
  3. Under Settings, select Advanced and choose to accept first-party and third-party cookies
  4. Close and restart your browser

 

Safari (macOS High Sierra)

  1. In Safari, select Safari in the menu bar
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Select the Privacy tab
  4. At Cookies and website data, clear the Block all cookies option
  5. Close and restart your browser
