  2. If prompted, enter your email address as your username and your LISTSERV password
    • Note: your LISTSERV password is not the same as your MUnet password
  3. From the List Management Dashboard, click on the list you want to add the subscriber to.
  4. Click on Subscriber Reports from the menu displayed on the left-hand side of the screen.
  5. Enter the person's email address and full name in the Add Subscriber text box and click Add Subscriber button

Bulk-add subscribers using the web interface

  • This method will not send a welcome message to new LISTSERV subscribers
  1. Create a text file with email addresses and names (optional), one per line, as shown below. You must create the text file on a Windows computer or on a Macintosh with a program that can save Windows line feeds
    • alphaaa@MiamiOH.edu Alex Alpha
    • bravobb@MiamiOH.edu Bob Bravo
    • charlicc@MiamiOH.edu Christine Charlie
  2. Open the LISTSERV management console
  3. If prompted, enter your email address as your username and your LISTSERV password
    • Note: your LISTSERV password is not the same as your MUnet password
  4. From the List Management Dashboard, click to select the list you want to add the subscribers to.
  5. Click the menu choice Subscriber Report
  6. Click the link Bulk Operations
  7. Ensure the first radio button labeled Add the imported addresses to the list is selected
    • If you want to remove all existing subscribers and replace them with the new list, choose the second option
  8. Click the Browse button and locate the text file containing your list of email addresses
  9. Click the Import button
    • Any errors in the file will be displayed on the next page, along with a summary of how many subscribers were added
    • If the next page says ADD: no error, one recipient added and your file contained more than one subscriber, it is possible you sent a Macintosh-formatted file. Try the email instructions below

Add a subscriber using email

  • LISTSERV will send a welcome message to new subscribers, unless you add the word quiet before the command: quiet add <listname> <emailaddress> <fullname>
  1. Open your email application and create a new plain-text email message
    • Make sure the FROM address reflects the email address on which you are listed as an owner of the desired LISTSERV list
  2. In the TO field, enter listserv@listserv.miamioh.edu
  3. In the main message body, type add <listname> <emailaddress> <fullname>
    • <listname>: the 32-character or less name (the part of the list address before @listserv.miamioh.edu)
    • <emailaddress>: the email address of the person you are subscribing to the list
    • <fullname>: the first, middle (optional), and last name of the person you are subscribing to the list
