Remove or forget a wireless network in Windows

Tags PK17

Issue/Question

  • How do I remove a wireless network from the list of networks on my Windows PC?

Environment

  • 10139: Wireless Network
  • Miami Wireless
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 7

Rationale

  • If you experience an issue when connecting to a wireless network on a Windows computer, try forgetting the wireless network. This enables the computer to reset settings — usernames, passwords, or configurations — allowing the device to reconnect to the network

Resolution

Windows 7

  1. Click Start and choose Control Panel
  2. In the Control Panel under the Network and Internet section, click View network status and tasks
  3. Right-click the network that you want to remove and click Remove network
  4. In the Manage Wireless Networks dialog box, click OK
  5. If you are removing or forgetting the MU-Wireless network, follow these KB instructions on re-adding the MU-Wireless network

Windows 10

Can you resolve this issue yourself?
Can the end-user resolve the issue using the instructions given?
Or does the end-user need to request assistance from Miami UIT, a client office, or a vendor?
Yes! This is self-service with a smile.
