Wireless Network / Remove or forget a wireless network on a Windows computer

Objective

  • To provide instruction on removing or forgetting a wireless network from the list of networks on a Windows computer
    • When you receive the error, Cannot connect
    • When you experience an issue when connecting to a wireless network on a Windows computer
  • To provide instruction on reconnecting a Windows 10 computer to MU-Wireless

Environment

  • 10139: Wireless Network
    • MU-Wireless
    • Miami Network
  • Windows 10

Cause

  • The network settings on your computer for MU-Wireless are incorrect or out of date
  • If you experience an issue when connecting to a wireless network on a Windows computer, try forgetting the wireless network. This enables the computer to reset settings — usernames, passwords, or configurations — allowing the device to reconnect to the network 

Resolution

  1. Select the Network icon in the lower right-hand corner of your screen
  2. Select Network settings
  3. Select Manage Wi-Fi settings
  4. Under Manage known networks, select MU-WIRELESS
  5. Select Forget
  6. Restart your computer
  7. Select the Network icon in the lower right-hand corner of your screen
  8. Select MU-WIRELESS
  9. Follow the prompts to connect to the network

 

Notes

  • If you can see the wireless networks, but are still unable to connect to the Miami network, contact IT Help at 513-529-7900. Provide the following information: 
    • Location
    • Media Access Control address (MAC) for your device(s)
    • Contact information
