Network Printing / Remove a department printer from Windows or macOS computer

Objective

  • To provide instruction on removing a printer from a Windows or macOS computer when:
    • Your departmental printer shows a status of Server is offline
    • You cannot connect to your network printer
    • You want to remove a department printer in macOS
    • You want to remove a department printer in Windows

Environment

  • 10409: Departmental Printing (ComDoc/MOM devices)
  • Computing: Windows
  • Computing: macOS

Resolution

Remove a printer from Windows

  1. Click the Start icon
  2. Begin typing Printers & Scanners, selecting this option when it resolves in the list
  3. Scroll the list of installed printers, clicking to select the printer you want to remove
  4. Click the Remove Device button

Remove a printer from macOS

  1. Open your Apple menu
  2. Choose System Preferences
  3. Click Printers & Scanners
  4. Select the printer in the list and click Remove
