Purpose and Scope
To ensure that the proper responsible persons are contacted in the event of a major electrical outage, holders of this SOP should proceed according to the following procedures.
Policy
When a major electrical outage (defined as a full building or more) occurs, the person discovering the problems should contact the following people in the order listed. Note - if outage is discovered between 7:00 am and 12:00 am, Monday through Friday, the first call should go to the Operations Center at 513-529-6111. The Operations Center will follow the Emergency Plan and Contact List expectations for notifications.

If the outage is campus-wide, then the above person notified should report it to Duke Energy Large Account Management at 1-877-632-3853, x 2. Reference Account #19500677-01, Miami University, McGuffey Substation, 4955 Oxford-Trenton Road, Oxford, Ohio. If further assistance is needed, call Duke Energy's Account Executive, Deanna Bowden at 513-287-1414 (cell 513-252-1050) or Mike Heath at 859-534-4379 (cell 513-535-6213).
For outages to individual buildings served by Duke Energy, call 1-800-343-3525 and provide the address of the affected building(s).
For outages to individual buildings served by Butler Rural Electric Cooperative (BREC), call 513-867-4400 and provide the address and/or account number.
