Procedure: Medical Housing Requests

General Info 

Students with medical needs must  go through the Miller Center for  Student Disability Services if they require housing accommodation.  Rooms are held back each year to accommodate the medical requests. All rooms with bathrooms attached, single rooms, and 1st floor ADA rooms should be held offline. Reminder emails about medical documentation deadlines are sent to Upperclass students in October/November and to First Year Students in February/March.

 

 

  1. The Miller Center sends Campus Services a copy of the approved accommodation once the student has been awarded a Housing Accommodation. 

  2. Victoria (UC) and Jenay (FY) will take the approvals and update the students' account in StarRez.

    1. Choose the profile under SDS Accommodations in the Profile section (to find view StarRez SOP) and add it to the students account. 

      1. Insert comment for billing adjustments within the profile for:

        1. Single rooms:  To be charged at double room rate.

      2. Other Profile should be selected for and note added:

        1. Additional furniture: Approved for additional xxxxxx

        2. Removal of furniture: Approved for xxxx removal

  3. Victoria/Jenay will email students that their approval has been received and ask that they submit location preferences if spacing allows. There may be times where the student is only offered X room due to availability. 

  4. Once the room is accepted, change the room type under the Rooms option in StarRez and use the Date Dependent Configuration to update the location. Please see SOP for StarRez on how to do this. 

 

 

When updating approved students, check to see if they are on the Single Room Waitlist. If they are, please delete them so the list stays current.

 

 

Students who have accommodations have priority placement and will receive the email below depending on their classification for the next academic year. For students requesting Heritage Commons, they may request 1 additional roommate to reside with them. Heritage Commons location guarantees will receive priority placements over students who have accommodation approvals for other room types. Once the email is received and the students assignment is completed, email them to complete their housing contracts within the portal.

Please understand that these are requested locations and are not guaranteed.  We will do our best to place you within or close to your listed locations if possible.   Students with a location guarantee for Heritage Commons are permitted to request only one roommate.  Please include their name and Unique ID.  I will send them an email to gain their permission to place them with you. 

We will send you an email with your assignment details and when you can access your housing portal to complete the 2022 – 2023 Housing and Meal Plan Contract. Please understand we are experiencing a higher than normal call and email volume at this time. Your assignment will be completed as soon as possible. We do anticipate full occupancy next fall. In order to guarantee a space on campus next year, please complete the form at your earliest opportunity.

 

 

Please note that students with an approved accommodation for Heritage Commons may pull in only one roommate. Your roommate is required to send an email to our office at:  campusservicescenter@miamioh.edu confirming they would like to reside with you. We will not place roommates without their consent.

 

Once we complete your assignment, we will notify you by email with this information.
