Rationale
- All network interfaces have a unique media access control identifier (MAC address) used for communication purposes on a network. You might be asked to locate and provide the MAC address of a computer or other device when you, for example, register a gaming device
- Your device may have more than one MAC address, if you have both wired and wireless interfaces
- The format for a MAC address (also called a physical address or Ethernet hardware address) is 12 alphanumeric characters, usually separated by colons: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX or 0a:1b:2c:3d:4e:5f
Resolution
On an Apple TV
- From the main menu, select Settings
- From the Settings screen, select General
- Under General, select Network or About
- Locate the Ethernet Address title
- The MAC address for the wired network will be displayed next to the title Ethernet Address
- The MAC address for the wireless network will be displayed next to the title Wi-Fi Address
- You can also find the MAC address printed on the UPC label on the Apple TV box
On a Fire TV (Amazon)
- From the home screen, press Menu
- Select Settings
- Locate the Device Info section
- The MAC address for your device will be displayed near the bottom of the screen
On a Roku streaming player
- From the home screen, select Settings
- From the Settings screen, select Player Info
- The MAC address for your device will be displayed

On a Roku TV
- From the home screen, select Settings
- From the Settings screen, select About
- The MAC addresses for the wireless and wired (Ethernet) networks will be displayed
On a Samsung Smart TV
- From the main menu, select Network
- Select Network Settings
- Choose Wired or Wireless for your connection type
- The MAC addresses for the wireless and wired (Ethernet) networks are different
- Select Network Test
- The MAC address for your device will be displayed at the top of the screen
On a TiVo device
- Press the TiVo button to go to TiVo Central
- Select Messages and Settings
- Select Phone and Network Setup
- The MAC address for your device will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen
