Gmail / Access when Google has locked your account

Objective

• To provide instruction on accessing your Gmail account when Google has locked your account

Environment

• 10262: Google Mail (email e-mail)

Cause

• Google locked the account in response to user behavior that was determined to be unusual

Resolution

1. Wait up to 24 hours for Google to remove the lock
2. If you are still unable to access your email after 24 hours, contact IT Help by phone at 513-529-7900 or by live chat at MiamiOH.edu/ITChat for assistance
3. Provide the following information:
   • Your Miami email address
   • The time and date when the account was locked
   • Describe how you were you were using your email when Google locked the account
   • Your contact information
