ClassTech / Classroom computer function and use issues

Body

Objective

  • To provide troubleshooting guidance and assistance with classroom technology issues when:
    • The computer won't boot properly and gets hung up on the message Please wait for group policy
    • There is a shortage in the wiring in the computer that affects the screen — the sound in the computer has stopped completely
    • The classroom computer does not power on or function correctly
    • You need to reset the teachers station
    • Your monitors are not working
    • Audio playback from the classroom computer is choppy
    • The mouse is missing or isn't working on your workstation
    • You are unable to access an app on the classroom computer
    • You have received an error in iBooks on a classroom computer

Environment

Resolution

  1. Restart the workstation
    • On a Mac, select the Apple menu and select Restart...
    • On a PC, select the Windows button, then click on the arrow next to Shut Down and select Restart
  2. Power on the teacher's station computer inside the cabinet
    • You may need to hold in the power button to shut it off, wait ten seconds, then press the power button again to start it back up
  3. Crestron panel will prompt the user to press system power to begin
  4. Do not touch any buttons at this time (or it may require a second reboot!)
  5. You can tap the glass to wake up the touch panel, just don't press buttons
  6. Crestron panel will display the message: Please wait while projector powers down
  7. Crestron panel prompt the user to press Power to begin
  8. Press Start and select a source for display
  9. If you are still unable to use the computer, contact IT Help by phone at 513-529-7900 or by live chat at MiamiOH.edu/ITChat for assistance
  10. Provide the following information:
    • A description of the issue you're experiencing and that you have tried the above steps
    • The exact error message you have received, if applicable
    • Location of the classroom
    • Whether class is currently in session
    • Whether you need immediate assistance or if you can wait until your class is over

 

Note

  • If you need immediate help, locate the phone in the room and dial 9-7900, and then press 9
