Network Printing / Add a department printer to Windows computer

Objective
- To provide instruction on adding a new department printer to a Windows computer
- To provide instruction on selecting a new network printer as your default printer
Environment
- 10409: Departmental Printing (ComDoc/MOM devices)
- 10668: Active Directory
- Computing: Windows
Resolution
- Click the Start icon
- Begin typing Printers & Scanners, clicking to select this option when it resolves
- Click Add a Printer or scanner at the top of the Printers & Scanners window
- Click The printer I want isn't listed
- Click Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature
- Click Next
- In the Find Printers search box, type the three-character department abbreviation for the printer you want to install
- If you are unsure of the department abbreviation, search for the building abbreviation
- When using a building abbreviation, type an asterisk (*) before and after the three-character building code (e.g., *HYT* or *RDB*)
- Click Find now
- Click the printer you want to install from the search results
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Make this your default printer by selecting the Set as default printer check box
- Click Finish to complete the install
