Canvas, McGraw Hill Integration / Pair course and deploy assignments

Objective

  • To provide instruction on adding McGraw Hill Integration (1.3) into a Canvas course and deploying assignments to Canvas from the integration

Instructions 

Pair a Canvas course with McGraw Hill Integration (1.3)

  1. Select Modules from the Course Navigation menu
  2. Select the three dot drop-down menu on any Module and select McGraw Hill Integration
  3. Select Authorize (you only have to select this the first time you use the integration in a Canvas course)
  4. Select Connect
  5. Select Pair with a Connect Section
  6. Sign in to McGraw Hill
  7. Select Pair with new Connect course
  8. Select the text you wish to connect by ISBN or Recently Used Disciplines
  9. Select the correct text
  10. Enter a Course name, Time zone, Section Name, and Institution then select Create Course
    • Registration Dates are optional
  11. A screen will appear when you have successfully paired the courses
  12. From this point, you will need to create assignments in McGraw Hill to add to your Canvas course

 

Create and deploy NEW assignments

  1. Once a course has been paired, create a new assignment by following the instructions below. Note: Any assignments deployed to Canvas are added to the Assignments page (accessible via the Assignments link in Course Navigation)
  2. Select Modules from the Course Navigation menu
  3. Select the three dot drop-down menu on any Module and select McGraw Hill Integration
  4. Select Go to my Connect Section
  5. In your McGraw Hill section, select Assignments tab and click Add assignment
  6. Select which type of assignment you want to create
  7. If your course includes an ebook, you can create reading assignments by choosing chapters
  8. Set up details for the assignment, including the name and due date, then select Assign
  9. When you have created all your assignments, select the checkbox next to the assignment(s) you want to deploy to Canvas and select three dots menu next to the button of Add assignment, and choose Deploy to Canvas
  10.  You can set the grade type in bulk or individually, select Best attempt or Last attempt, and then select Deploy
  11.  Don't close the page — you will be redirected your Canvas site after the deployment is complete
    • Note: If successfully deployed, the Canvas icon will be visible next to the deployed assignment(s) in the McGraw Hill Connect section page
  12. In the Canvas module, the assignment will now be added and set to Unpublished

  • If you need direct assistance with setting up your course and need to add one of the reps directly to your course, add them using the Vendor Support role — do NOT use the Teacher role
