Rationale

  • Courtesy accounts rely on default password to allow a user to gain access to their account at creation. Because of this, we do not receive information about the account that can be used for self-service password recovery. Courtesy account users may need their account password set to default, when they have forgotten their password. This will allow the user to set a new password 

Resolution 

  1. Navigate to https://accounts.miamioh.edu
  2. Enter your username/uniqueID and select Next
  3. Enter your password and select Next
  4. Navigate to the People module
  5. On the left side of the screen, select the Courtesy Account Management delegated view
  6. In the search box, enter the username or email address for the courtesy account that you would like to manage
  7. Select the 3 dot icon  to the left of the returned results and select Edit Profile
  8. Select the check box to the left of Reset Password to Default
  9. Select Save
  10. The courtesy account holder can now complete a password recovery to set a new password using the default password value

 

Notes

  • The user will be prompted to add a personal email address to the system after setting a password. Please encourage users to set a recovery option to allow self-service password recovery
