Canvas / Split names into columns in Gradebook

Objective

• To provide instruction on setting up to view the Split Student Names column in the Gradebook

Resolution

• Miami University has Enhanced Gradebook feature turned on. Review the Canvas Guides for these features:

  • How do I edit a filter in Enhanced Gradebook Filters?
     
• If a user has a preferred name that is different from their legal name, the legal name is displayed. When student names are split, the Last Name column can still be sorted by type and order and supports secondary information. Split names are respected and displayed in the Gradebook CSV export

1. In Course Navigation, click Grades
2. In Gradebook, click the gear  icon on the right side of the screen
3. Check the box to Split Student Names
4. Click Apply Settings
