Wireless Network / Connect a virtual assistant to MU-Gaming

Objective

• To provide instruction on:
  • Registering and connecting your virtual assistant to the University network
  • Registering and connecting your Amazon Echo to the wireless network
  • Registering and connecting your Google Home device to Miami's network
  • Using the Google Home app to connect your Google Home device to the network

Environment

• 10139: Wireless Network
  • MU-Gaming
• Network Registration
• Personally-owned Virtual Assistant
  • Amazon Echo (Alexa speaker)
  • Google Home, Google Home Mini 

Resolution

1. Log in to Miami's MU-Gaming Device Registration page using your UniqueID and MUnet password
2. Click Add
3. Enter the name of the device you want to register 
   • Do not include any special characters in the name. The page will return an error if there is a special character in the name or description
4. Enter the device MAC address for Device ID
   • Follow these KB instructions to locate the MAC address for your virtual assistant device
5. Submit your request 
6. When you have completed your registration, connect your device to MU-Gaming 
   • To use the Google Home app, your mobile device and your Google Home device must be connected to the same wireless network — MU-Gaming
