SAS / Install from an ISO on Windows

Objective

• To provide instruction on installing SAS from an ISO on a Windows computer

Environment

• 336975: SAS
• Software for Personally Owned Computers
  • Windows

Resolution

Automatic installation

• After downloading the SAS ISO, mount the ISO as a virtual CD drive and then run the installer

1. Close all applications and save your work
2. Right-click the SAS .ISO file that you saved to your computer
3. From the short-cut menu, choose Mount 
   • If prompted by AutoPlay, choose Open folder to view files
4. Open My Computer and locate the drive-letter of the ISO
5. Double-click the Install64.bat
   • If your operating system is 32-bit, double-click Install32.bat
6. The installer will run from a command window
   • Do not close the window; it will close automatically when the install is finished
   • It may take more than an hour to complete the install
   • Your computer may reboot numerous times due to prerequisites for SAS being installed
     • Return to Step 2 and restart the process to complete the SAS install

Manual installation

• Alternatively, to install SAS manually, which allows you to select different installation options, follow these steps.

1. Right-click the SAS .ISO file that you saved to your computer
2. From the short-cut menu, choose Mount
   • If prompted by AutoPlay, choose Open folder to view files
3. Open My Computer and locate the drive-letter of the ISO
4. Double-click the Setup.exe
5. On the first setup screen, select the language you would like to use
6. Click Ok
7. On the Select Deployment Task screen, select Install SAS Software
8. Click Next
9. On the Specify SAS Home screen, leave the default directory location
10. Click Next
11. On the Select Deployment Type screen, select Install SAS Foundation and Related Software
12. Click Next
13. On the Select Products to Install screen, select the productions you would like to install
14. Click Next
15. On the Select SAS Foundation Mode screen, select 64-bit Native Mode
16. Click Next
17. On the Select SAS Enterprise Guide Mode screen, select 64-bit Native Mode
18. Click Next
19. On the Select SAS Foundation Products screen, you can further customize the SAS products you need to install. Select the desired components, and then click Next
20. On the Specify SAS Installation Data File screen, leave the directory location specified
21. Click Next
22. On the Select Language Support screen, click Next
23. On the Select Regional Settings screen, select how you would like numbers, dates and times displayed
24. Click Next
25. On the Default Product for SAS File Types screen, select SAS Foundation (64-bit)
26. Click Next
27. The installer will perform several checks of your system before installation begins
    • Click Next once the system check has been completed
28. On the Deployment Summary screen, click Start to finish the installation

• Windows 7 users: We recommend using the WinISO application to mount the .ISO install disk
