  • Read&Write includes many different tools within one application, including picture dictionary, sounds-like and confusable words, study skills highlighters, vocabulary list builder, speech maker, pronunciation tutor, and screen masking
  • This software is available to Miami faculty, staff, and students and may be used on University-owned or personally-owned computers


  1. Download Read&Write for installation on your macOS or Windows computer
  2. Locate the folder that downloaded from this article: Check for the folder at the bottom of your browser and in your Downloads folder
  3. Right-click the folder and select Extract all files
  4. Select a destination for your extracted files: We recommend that you extract to your Desktop
  5. Click Extract
    • A Setup folder will be created in the location you have selected
  6. The Setup folder should open automatically; if not, just double-click to open
  7. Be sure that you are connected to the Internet before attempting the following steps
  8. Click the Read&Write.exe (Application) file
    • The Wise Installation Wizard should open — an Internet connection is required
  9. When the installation has been completed, you will see a Read&Write icon on your desktop
  10. Click the Read&Write icon to start the program   
  11. When the Read&Write Activation screen appears, click the Activate button
    • Notes:
      • If the Activation Code field is empty, you do not need to enter a code. Simply click the Activate button to start the Read&Write program
      • If you click Skip Activation, your copy of Read&Write will expire after 25 uses before the program must be activated
      • If you are prompted for an Activation Code, contact the AccessMU Center at 513-529-0200 during business hours
  12. You should receive a message to inform you that activation was successful, before Read&Write starts up
