Identity & Access
Miami Account / Guide: Account types that need to change default password
Miami Account / Guide: Account types that need to change default password
Objective
To instruct certain users how to access their Miami account
User
The owner of an account created since March 28, 2024, with any of the following account types:
undergraduate students (UND)
graduate students (GRA)
accepted students (ACC)
life-long learning students (LLL)
enrollment eligible student (EES)
international (INT)
courtesy (COU) accounts
Scope
An issue in our identity system previously prevented the generation of default passwords for several Miami account types. This issue is causing new account holders to need a password reset before they can access Miami systems (including email or myMiami, which is why we are reaching out to you all, because reaching out to these populations directly is difficult). Any Miami account of the kinds listed above created since March 28, 2024, that has not logged in and changed their password to a new value, is subject to this problem
When attempting to access a Miami resource, an impacted user will receive the message:
Error: Authentication attempt has failed, likely due to invalid credentials. Please verify and try again
Environment
1388733: RapidIdentity
